Ground training and flight evaluation of the Universal Avionics EFI-890R Flight Display System took place on 04 June 2007 at IFR Avionics, Inc.The FSB Chairman received two-hours of ground training on the G-1159 EFI-890R avionics display system. The cockpit of the aircraft, and the EFI-890R avionics systems, was powered using ground power. At the completion of training, a verbal examination and practical exercise in the cockpit was administered. The flight evaluation consisted of a flight in the local southern California area. During the flight the FSB Chairman conducted various maneuvers in accordance with the ATP Practical Test Standard s. Those maneuvers included, Steep Turns, Unusual Attitudes, and Stalls. Other tasks accomplished consisted of area departures and arrivals, precision approaches (ILS), non-precision approaches (GPS), and missed approach procedures. All operating modes of the Universal Avionics EFI-890R Flight Display System were exercised and demonstrated. 1.11.3. As such, the training, checking, and currency requirements as proposed by the applicant is accepted with a few minor exceptions. The variant (to airplane) is the G-1159 EFI-890R.In addition, training using the G-1159 EFI-890R aircraft flight deck with the EFI-890R system properly powered on the ground may be substituted for ICBI or CPT training.
