If this lever is pressed down when film is threaded through the projector, the film will tear. Yet, unlike the Maltese cross projectors, the EIKI Pin Cylinder System does not decrease the picture brightness when compared toothed conventional cam claw pull down system. The pin cylinder mechanism consists of a 10-tooth drive sprocket where 5 frames of film are always engaged for smooth steady film handling, even with damaged or poorly spliced films. The 10-tooth intermittent drive sprocket is precisely advanced 24 fps by a pinion gear which drives a 10-pin cylinder wheel providing the intermittent motion. For high reliability and long service the entire mechanism operates in a sealed oil bath. Rectifier cooling fan motor Film Speed: 24FPS sound speed standard (18FPS silent speed optional) Shutter: 2 blade standard (3 blade optional) Reel Capacity: 2000ft (600m) standard reel supplied with projector Max.EX-9100 M (EX-9120) has only more lumen output as difference. These are the unique projectors utilizing the Geneva movement.http://olievenfontein.com/images/casio-5123-user-manual.pdf You may try to find the reasonable priced Maltese cross model variations, but they are on pedestals originally. Good luck! Best, Erkan Why does Fernando not like the two claws? And for which purpose they constructed them ? The statistical data is the difficult part of the job. The only proper source is Eiki Industrial in Osaka. Despite I’ve visited in 1995 never interested in that data. Now, all my friends specialized in the 16mm line there are retired. Those type projectors are designed to show films in rural areas, auditoriums, concert halls and exhibitions on big screens. Hope this helps for now. Best, Erkan Also, the molybdenum oil form is dropped every 100 hrs. Prior to applying the chemicals, its advised that the whole cam tank mechanism should be cleaned. Best, Erkan If anyone is interested let me know. We have a revival and demand for second hand 16 mm EIKI projectors. Please let us know if you have some fore sale (in good condition). Best, Erkan Would you have any idea where I could find such a thing? Do you know if the number of ESLs and ENTs produced was extremely small in comparison to SSLs and SNTs, because they cost so much more? They are rare in Japan, too, as you mentioned, as well as expensive and not an important functional necessity compared to the rotary-switch ones, unless someone needs to frequently interrupt the projection, FF and REW the film during the show, such as in a seminar, etc. Those buttons were added when the 16mm film shows were declining already. Hope this helps for now. I’m in the UK but I was fortunate enough to obtain an new old stock dual voltage one from the USA. The added features are impressive and I much prefer the buttons, especially as I’ve owned Eikis with rotary switches that work but you can feel that the mechanism is not perfectly aligned and working 100 smoothly. I’ve finally this year managed to get a ESL from the USA but I had to buy a step up transformer use with it. Your words make it seem that even less than I thought were produced, although I know they were available right up to the end of production around 2003, because I first saw photos of them on the sales website of Wittners in Germany. I suppose they would have become less expensive if they had been produced in larger quantities. I think that if the technology had developed further, the following generation may have had remote control focussing and volume too, which would have been fantastic. Were Eiki a popular projector distributed in substantial numbers in Turkey. Does your friend (or anyone in Turkey) sell spares? Every year EIKI was publishing a general catalog in Japanese in addition to individual leaflets. I know from these literature that they were manufacturing a wide variety of 16mm projection equipment in the early 2000’s. However, cross marks on some EIKI models were appearing in their catalogs. ELMO and HOKUSHIN had already decreased their model line-up earlier than EIKI. As far as I know, Wittner bought all the outfits left EIKI Deutschland has. Remocons were already available for transport control long time ago, but for volume, framing and focusing, as you know. Unfortunately, I am not in contact with that friend anymore. He was actually selling the digital shits. Please see the URL below. I always buy my cine gear, except AC required stuff like projectors due to voltage difference, via my friend in Japan. Generally reasonable-priced and kept in good condition stuff. Best, Erkan I am moving and can’t keep it. I always thought it would be such great project or decor for a house one day but I have nowhere to store it now Is there a spec that I can use to get a conversion connector for this round 3-pin male receptacle. I have seen comments from others online where they used a Nanaboshi NCS-253-P connector, but it was for an Elmo CX-350 projector. Can’t find any manual or specs that address the power input receptacle. Thanks Tom The most important thing is the cable AC current capacity (wire thickness) and length, so the wires should handle the current well above its limits. Erkan If you are able to write the dimensions of the genuine connector, I can suggest you in a better way. Normally, they are 3-pin circular male chassis-mount power connectors. Japan’s Kobe Movie Museum has been remodeled to silently project silent movies from 16 fps to 18 fps to 20 fps. The Kobe Movie Museum has the know-how to modify the projector. Eiki Serial number RM32182. Do you know if this version was manufactured by EIKI in Japan or was the modification carried out in the UK and do you have any information about the magnetic film side of these projectors. Thank you Iain Hope this helps for now. Best Erkan Notify me of new posts via email. Learn how your comment data is processed. To find out more, including how to control cookies, see here. Make sure the Function Lever is in the STOP position, then connect the AC power cord into a standard wall outlet. A small lamp located beneath the lens will light up. Before you thread the film, you can pre-focus and adjust the size of your picture by turning the function lever to the first forward lamp position. Move the projector back from the screen to enlarge the picture and closer to the screen to make the picture smaller. Raise and lower the picture by using the black Elevating Knob on the front of the projector. When the picture is correctly sized and positioned, adjust the Focus knob until the edge of the light is sharp. Turn the Function Lever to stop. Place the film to be shown on the Supply Reel Arm. It should feed off in a clockwise direction; the leader of the film will usually be green. Place a take up reel on the other reel arm making sure its the same size or larger than the supply wheel. Lock down both reels by pushing down the small Arm Lock Buttons on the reel arms. Press down firmly on the raised end to cut the film leader to the proper shape. Push the Self Threading Control into the self-thread position, then turn the Function Lever clockwise to the first forward position. Insert the lead end of the film into the film insert guide where the projector should pull the film in and thread it automatically. When enough film has come off the last roller to attach it to the take up reel, turn the Function Lever off. Gently tug the end of the film against the last roller to restore the self-threading mechanism to its normal operating position. You can also thread the film manually using the diagram on the reverse side of this operating guide. Focus and frame using the controls near the lens as detailed under 'Setting Up.' Turn on the volume and adjust the treble and bass for tone. An external speaker may also be plugged into the front of the projector. To see videos we really, REALLY love, head to Staff Picks.
